Facial Therapy Syllabus
Anatomy & Physiology
A general study of the structure and function of the bodys systems to include: the vascular, lymphatic, skeletal, muscular, excretory, nervous, endocrine and reproductive systems. These systems are studied in relation to their effects on the body and to the treatments performed by the therapist.
The Skin
A detailed study of the skin and its appendages hair and nails
Skin diseases and disorders including disorders of the eye
Skin analysis and resultant choice of suitable treatment for the client
Treatments
The Eyes
· Eyebrow shaping
· Eyelash & Eyebrow tinting
· Application of eye make-up
· False eyelashes
· Draining massage to reduce puffiness & dark circles
· Contra-indications to eye treatments the skin
Skin Care
· Cleansing
· Exfoliating Products
· Moisturising and use of SPF
· Effects of Ultra Violet on the skin
· Choice and application of suitable masks
· Prevention of premature ageing of the skin
Superfluous Hair
The treatment of superfluous hair removal by the following methods:
· Wax depilation using both hot and warm waxing methods
· Tweezing
· Contra indications and the importance of patch testing

Facial Electrical Treatments
The skin condition can be improved and corrected by use of the following treatments:

Make-Up
The artful and professional application of make-up using a variety of different products, this involves:

Electrolysis Therapy Syllabus
The Hair
A detailed study of the anatomy of the hair & hair follicle, causes of superfluous hair both normal and abnormal permanent and temporary removal of unwanted hair.
The treatment
Client consultation and analysis
Electrolysis, Thermolysis and the blend
Electrical epilation of hair by needle to include all suitable face and body areas
Care and maintenance of equipment
Contra-indications to treatment
Aftercare and advice for clients
Skin care
Management of hair growth between treatments.
Electricity
Direct and high frequency currents
The Atom
Electrical components e.g. fuse, capacitors etc
Conductors and insulators
Care and maintenance of appliances
Safety precautions when using Electrical equipment
Hygiene
Suitable disposal method from needles and cotton wool
Prevention of cross infection
