The Treatment:

All therapists at Coogan Bergin are highly qualified in Electrolysis and will carry out a consultation and test patch in order to explain and reassure you of the appropriate treatment. A new, sterile, packed needle is used for each client and is inserted into the hair follicle where a small amount of electrical energy is discharged, which destroys the hair growth tissue with no adverse side effects. Sometimes, a slight reddening of the skin occurs during or immediately after treatment, but this will only last for a short time.

Is Electrolysis uncomfortable?

It is impossible to destroy hair growth tissue without some sensation. Sensation varies for each individual and adjustments will be made to make the treatment as comfortable as possible for you.

How many treatments are required?

The number of treatments varies with each client. Factors such as hair growth cycles, previous use of temporary hair removal methods, heredity, hormone function, medications and stress influence the treatment program for each person. It is important to adhere to the recommended treatment schedule to achieve optimum results in the shortest time frame. Since many factors influence hair growth, you will need to return for several electrolysis visits. The total number of sessions needed to remove hair permanently from a particular area will vary from person to person. Most clients return once a week or every other week, as necessary but the unwanted hair will be gone forever once the series of treatments have been completed. Each treatment lasts between 15 minutes and one hour.
